The vignettes I create inhabit the tangent between wild and tame.
Iʼve devoted my artistic practice to depicting the micro/macrocosm of the domestic stage. Found in sidewalk cracks, under eaves, and beneath cellar stairs my specimens are both ordinary and extraordinary. I embrace everyday encounters with natives, urban intruders and coveted transplants equally and use the opportunity to study the common thread we all share.
My work combines the creative disciplines of painting, drawing, papier-mache and embroidery. Iʼm inﬂuenced by an amalgamation of different sources; my Appalachian heritage, scientiﬁc engravings, botanical illustration, Christian iconography and anonymous hand work.
